What If I Die Today?

Every one of us will die - that is a fact of life. Young people, please do not turn away. There is no guarantee that you will live until old age. In fact, there is no guarantee that you will live until tomorrow or until the next hour! Young people (not just old people) die of deadly viruses, cancer, have heart attacks or strokes, or get killed by drunk drivers. Not one of us can know what minute will be our last on earth. Why do I stress that point? I am not trying to scare you, but I just want you to be made aware that time flies by so quickly; and it is important to settle your eternal destiny now because God's Holy Word (KJB) says that you cannot be saved once you die! God says that after we die then comes the judgment; and that means that we do not get a chance after we are dead to be saved. Please keep reading to find out the good news God has for you.

Hebrews 9:27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Please keep reading. There is good news is coming further on in this Bible study.

So you see that the decision to find out how you can get into heaven should not be put off until tomorrow because life is so short

And learning how God says you can get into His holy heaven will take away your fear of death! What a relief it is when you no longer have to fear what comes after death!

Once you know you are headed for heaven when you die, you can live with hope, joy, and peace because you have a reservation in heaven waiting for you when you die!  That is why God put these comforting words in His Holy Word, the King James Bible, just for you and me.

1 John 5:13

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

1 Peter
1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you

Please read all of this Bible study so you can learn for yourself the good news from your loving, heavenly Father God!

Bold in Bible verses is for emphasis.
Words in red are the words of Jesus Christ.

God says that there is only one way into heaven.

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father [God in heaven]but by me.

First some important facts we must all understand!

Heaven is where God's throne is, and in order for us to go to heaven when we die; we must get there God's Way, not our way!

Isaiah 66:1(a)
Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool:

God is holy and cannot be around sin (or sinners). Please keep reading because the good news is coming.

Habbakuk 1:13(a)
Thou [God] art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity [sin]:

God says we are all sinners because we inherited a sin nature from Adam, the first man, our ancestor. Sin is disobedience to God's laws (as found in his holy Bible, the KJB). Please keep reading because there is good news coming.

Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

So, if God cannot be around sin, and his holy Word (the KJB) says we are all sinners, how do we get to heaven when we die? The Bible tells us how.

First we must understand that we cannot work our way to heaven!

Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Isaiah 64:6 (a)
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags

Now, here is how to get saved from your sins and go to heaven when you die:

When Paul (who wrote many books of the New Testament of the Bible) and Silas were imprisoned. During the night they were praying and singing praises to God when an earthquake hit. The jailer, thinking his prisoners had escaped, was about to kill himself, but Paul stopped him, telling him they were all still there. Then because the jailer had seen their faith when they faced death, asked Paul how to be saved (from his sins).

Acts
16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

But it has to be more than just believing about Jesus Christ with our minds. Satan and his devils believe the facts about Jesus Christ's life, death, and resurrection from the dead; but they are not willing to repent of their sins (be sorry enough for them to stop doing them) and commit their trust in Jesus Christ's death and resurrection as payment for their sins.

In order to be saved we need to be willing to trust in Jesus Christ alone (without good works, religious ceremonies, church traditions; etc.) for our salvation.

Jesus said you (and I) need to be willing to repent of our sins or perish. To repent means that you have had a change of heart and are now willing to turn away from your sins (stop doing them), and that now you want to live in obedience to God's commands in His holy Word, the KJB.

Luke 13:3 Jesus said:
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

We need to tell God in heaven that we believe that Jesus Christ, God's Sinless Son, died for your sins, was buried, and three days later rose from the dead. The Lord Jesus Christ was witnessed by over 500 people after his resurrection from the dead.

1 Corinthians 15:6
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren [believers] at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep [died].)

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess [to God in heaven] with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

And then tell Jesus Christ you trust that he died for you and paid for all of your sins once and for all time for all of them, and that now you want to commit your life to him as your personal Saviour and the Lord of your life.

Hebrews 9:12
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his [Jesus Christ's] own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Acts 2:21
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:10
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession [to God in heaven] is made unto salvation.

Be aware that it is not our prayer (something we do) that saves us! It is God's grace (His unearned favor) that saves us, and salvation is a gift from God. You do not work to earn a gift. A gift is free.

We must choose to accept God's gracious gift and not insult Him by trying to earn (by good works or religious ceremonies or church traditions) what God has freely given.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

And now it is important that you, as a new Christian, learn how to live your life to please God in heaven and to help spread the gospel of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
